Marion County Chamber of Commerce President’s Award
Fairmont mill wins award for community support and involvement
On August 13, 2014, Resolute’s pulp mill located in Fairmont (West Virginia) received the President’s Award from the Marion County Chamber of Commerce in recognition of outstanding community support and involvement. The award honored the Fairmont mill’s educational program, which teaches school children how to recycle and how to care for the environment. The Chamber of Commerce also recognized the facility for giving its employees time off to get involved in the community.
McMinn County APEX Awards
Innovator of the Year
At the McMinn County APEX Awards in McMinn County, Tennessee, on June 26, 2014, Resolute was named Innovator of the Year. Sponsored by the McMinn County Economic Development Authority, the award recognizes the effective use of technology to create a competitive advantage in the areas of market share, production costs, quality improvement and/or customer convenience, and efficiency. The APEX Awards were created in 2014 to recognize industries and individuals for their Adaptability, Performance, and EXcellence in their industry or profession.
Corporate Knights’ Best 50 Corporate Citizens
Resolute recognized as an outstanding corporate citizen
On June 4, 2014, Resolute was ranked among Corporate Knights’ Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada. This honor recognizes Resolute’s commitment to balancing environmental, social and economic priorities and to being a strong civic partner in the community. For the Best 50 designation, Corporate Knights measures companies across twelve key performance indicators using publicly available data. Specific indicators include: resource, employee and financial management; energy and water use; greenhouse gas emissions; leadership gender diversity; and the practice of tying executive compensation to "clean capitalism" criteria.
Aboriginal Forest Products Business Leadership Awards
Outstanding leadership and performance honored at Opitciwan sawmill
On September 23, 2013, the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) and the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) awarded the Opitciwan (Quebec) sawmill the joint FPAC/CCAB Aboriginal Forest Products Business Leadership Award. The C$5,000 prize celebrates the success of Aboriginal entrepreneurs in a forest products business that exemplifies business leadership, exceptional environmental and safety performance, and the delivery of high-quality products and services. The Opitciwan sawmill is a joint venture of the Atikamekw Council of Obedjiwan and Resolute Forest Products.
